Marco Beach Ocean Resort

Wedding season in SW Florida has begun! Amanda and Ryan from Texas tied the knot on Marco Island on October 9th.  The Marco Beach Ocean Resort hosted the event and the Seaside String Trio was there to provide the wedding ceremony music. Dr. James Berger officiated the 5:30 ceremony on a beautiful fall evening in Florida.

Marco Island wedding

Amanda chose all classical music for the ceremony. When we talked over the details prior to the date, she left the prelude music up to me,  preferring it to be lively. So we played music we thought people would recognize and enjoy: Mouret, Rondeau; Handel, Arrival of the Queen of Sheba; Bach, Brandenburg Concerto #3; Haydn, Divertimento; a Mozart Trio and movements from Handel’s Water Music Suite.

The Processional started with the Seating of the Grandmother of the Bride and the Mother of the Bride. Next, the Parents of the Groom were seated. The music for this was Bach’s, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. The Wedding Party led by Rev. James Berger entered to the music, Canon in D by Pachelbel. There were 5 Groomsmen followed by the Groom and Best Man. Next to make their way onto the beach were the 5 Bridesmaids, the Maid of Honor, 2 Ring Bearers and three Flower Girls. Our Bride, Amanda, entered to the music Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke. Within the ceremony, the couple poured sand to symbolize the blending of their lives and we played the Handel Air from Water Music. The ceremony concluded, the couple was presented and we played All You Need is Love as the guests cheered the newlyweds.  The guests made their way from the beach up to the terrace for the reception to the music Just the Way You Are Amazing by Bruno Mars.

Congratulations and best wishes always, Amanda and Ryan!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

On this first Saturday of February the weather could not have been more beautiful for the destination wedding of Laura and John. The couple from Indiana chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort as their venue and the Seaside String Quartet to provide music for their wedding ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner. We shared the day with many wonderful vendors: Galina of the Resort, Kathie of Side by Side Wedding Services, Reverend Les Wicker, Tonya Malay Photography, Jenny and Sarah of Lyfe of the Party, Donna from Niche Event Rentals, Kakes by Karen, David and Daniel of Salon Tease and Dominick of Mobile Sound Entertainment. It was great to work with them!

The ceremony was set for 5 pm and we began prelude music at 4:30 pm. Laura gave me the freedom to choose the selections, requesting classical music. We performed Rondeau by Mouret; Flower Duet by Delibes; Mozart Quartet in C; Salut d’Amour by Elgar; Bach’s Anna’s Minuet;  Kreisler’s Liebesfreud; Handel Water Music Suite and some selections from our baroque album. The ceremony was a bit delayed so we added Mozart’s Alleluia, Handel’s Le Rejouissance, Gluck’s Minuet, and a Handel Bouree.

As the doors from the ballroom to the terrace opened and Reverend Wicker made his entrance, we began to play Schubert’s Ave Maria. The Mothers were seated and the Groom, John, took his place. The wedding party entered to Charpentier’s Te Deum. The adorable flower girl and ring bearers ( one carrying a sign”Here Comes the Bride” ) followed and as the groomsman blew in to a conch shell, Laura and her Father made their entrance to Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary.

wedding ceremony

During the ceremony, we played Handel’s Passacaile for the sand mixing. Reverend Wicker introduced the newlyweds and we played Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba for the exit of the couple and the wedding party.

We remained on the terrace for the cocktail hour. Laura requested popular music and chose the selections.: All You Need is Love; Leaving on a Jet Plane; Moon River; My Girl; Nights in White Satin; Stand By Me; Unchained Melody, What a Wonderful World; 1,2,3,4 (I LoveYou) All I Want is You; All My Love.

We took our break as the guests moved inside. The couple was introduced by DJ, Dominick, and performed their first dance together. The Father of the Bride gave his welcome toast. The Mom got up and asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to him and we played along. Since it was Tonya’s birthday too, we played it again for her as everyone sang.

As dinner began, we played these selections: At Last; Brown-Eyed Girl; Clocks; Groovy Kind of Love; In My Life; Moondance; Storybook Love; Wanted and When You Say Nothing At All.  Our portion of the evening was now over, more toasts were made and DJ Dominick took over. Many thanks to Laura and John for having us be a part of their special day! Congratulations!!

Sunday’s couple, Jenny and Joshua, also chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort for their destination wedding on this October weekend . The Seaside String Trio was chosen to provide the wedding ceremony music and cocktail reception music. This was a Jewish wedding so it was planned a little later in the evening, at 5:45. We began playing prelude music at 5:30 as guests made their way onto the beach .

I hope these pictures show you it was another gorgeous day- what a beautiful sky! Our fellow vendors included Lyfe of the Party, Tonya Malay Photography and Dominick of Mobile Sound Entertainment. Rabbi Daniel Victor officiated the ceremony.

The breaking of the glass closed the ceremony and we played Rather Be (Clean Bandit) as the Recessional. I love this song that the couple requested- it is a great new addition to our repertoire list!

The cocktail reception was also held on the beach. After a slight change of position, we continued with the couple’s favorites: Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve); Clocks (Coldplay); Firework (Katy Perry); Good Life (OneRepublic); Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars); Just Like Heaven (The Cure); Yellow (Coldplay); Pompeii (Bastille); Radioactive (Imagine Dragons); Wake Me Up (Avicii); Viva la Vida (Coldplay); Secrets ( OneRepublic); Livin’ on a Prayer ( Bon Jovi); and Stairway to Heaven ( Led Zeppelin).  At sunset, Jenny had requested A Sky Full of Stars ( Coldplay) be played.  It was another great special request and what a beautiful sunset!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

The third weekend of October brought us back to Marco Island and the Marco Beach Ocean Resort for two destination weddings and both couples were from Massachusetts! Saturday’s couple, Ann and Ryan, chose the Seaside String Trio to provide the live music for their wedding ceremony. We arrived at 4:30 to set up and loved that Galina and her staff had already set up an umbrella for us. It was an ideal day so guests were enticed to arrive on the beach early to enjoy pre-wedding beverages. We began  prelude music at 5 pm,  just as planned.

You can see by the pictures it was just a gorgeous day with a cloudless sky. We shared the day with these great vendors: Patti Fuenffinger, Officiate, Kevin Morris from Botanicals on the Gulf, Tonya Malay, Photographer, and Dominick from Mobile Sound Entertainment.

Marco Beach Ocean Resort beach wedding

As I drove to Marco Island on this Sunday afternoon in mid October, it looked like another beautiful day. I did have to drive through some sprinkles but I  anticipated terrific weather for the wedding of Julianne and Phillip at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort. This was a destination wedding for the couple from Massachusetts. When I got to the beach and joined my colleagues, Joan and Julie, who made up the Seaside Strings Trio, we asked  Galina,  the coordinator at the resort,  for an umbrella to provide some shade. As we continued to get ready, dark clouds began to get closer. I went back to the car to grab my umbrella which usually keeps the rain away.  It worked it’s magic again this time!

The lovely flowers were done by Kevin of Botanicals on the Gulf and he took this picture of us as we were setting up.

Here is a picture of the sky prior to ceremony start. It’s a miracle it all moved northwest of us!

threatening skies on Marco Island

For prelude, we played Can’t Help Falling in Love ( Elvis); Marry Me (Train);and Best Day of My Life ( American Authors) . Since the weather did look threatening, Galina started the wedding party down the boardwalk just a bit early. The Grandmother was seated, Parents of the Groom were seated; Reverend Les Wicker (Officiant) and Phillip, the Groom, entered followed by the Maid of Honor and Flower Girl all to the music Canon in D by Pachelbel.

Julianne processed onto the beach to the traditional Bridal Chorus escorted by both her parents. During the ceremony we played Over the Rainbow ( Israel K version) as the couple performed a sand ceremony. The traditional Wedding March  played as the wedding party exited. The couple came back to greet each row of guests and we played All You Need is Love  followed by Hallelujah (which we did not get to play in the prelude).

Once most of the guests had departed the beach to go to the terrace for the cocktail hour, we quickly packed and joined them. On our playlist for the cocktail reception was All of Me ( John Legend);  Counting Stars (OneRepublic);  God Only Knows (Beach Boys); I’m Yours (Jason Mraz); In My Life (Beatles); Just the Way You Are Amazing (Bruno Mars); Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet); Marry You ( Bruno Mars); Moondance ( Van Morrison); This Will Be (Natalie Cole); What a Wonderful World ( Louis Armstrong); Come Away With Me ( Norah Jones);  Beyond the Sea ( Bobby Darin);  Kokomo ( Beach Boys);  Sitting on the Dock of the Bay ( Otis Redding) and Stand By Me ( Ben E. King).

I am disappointed I did not get to meet the couple and offer congratulations and best wishes in person. We wish Julianne and Phillip a lifetime of happiness together!
