Marco Island Marriott

Dirielle and Wagner traveled all the way from New Hampshire to get married on the beach at the Marco Island Marriott Resort and Spa. Late August is a difficult time as we have to endure high humidity and daily rains. Unfortunately,  this week we had a tropical wave that dumped huge amounts or rain and provided very little sunshine. But for this couple and their many guests, the skies cleared long enough for them to hold their celebration on the beach.  It was a destination wedding with guests in contact on their phones with friends in Brazil!

The couple chose the Seaside Strings Flute and Violin Duo to provide the wedding ceremony music. We began prelude music at 6:15 pm for the 6:30pm ceremony.  The ceremony was delayed more than thirty minutes so I was glad I brought extra music. Dirielle had requested all popular music and had left the choices up to me. We played songs such as At Last, Besame Mucho, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Somewhere in Time, Forest Gump Feather Theme and Over the Rainbow.

When all was ready, we began to play the Canon in D by Pachelbel for the Seating of the Mother of the Bride, the Entrance of the Pastor and the Groom, the Entrance of 5 Bridesmaids , 5 Groomsmen and the Ring Bearers and Flower Girls. Dirielle entered to the Bridal Chorus by Wagner. It was a very romantic ceremony even though I could not understand the words as Portuguese was spoken throughout.  It was moving to see tears shining in both the Bride and Groom’s eyes. During the ceremony, we played The Prayer as the couple performed a ritual of washing each others’ feet. When they exchanged rings, Dirielle and Wagner kissed the ring of their partner.  It was a lovely romantic gesture.

As the newly- married couple kissed, we played the Mendelssohn Wedding March followed by Le Rejouissance by Handel.  We wish Dirielle and Wagner a long happy life together!  Their wedding was certainly a memorable occasion!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

Wedding season in SW Florida has begun! Amanda and Ryan from Texas tied the knot on Marco Island on October 9th.  The Marco Beach Ocean Resort hosted the event and the Seaside String Trio was there to provide the wedding ceremony music. Dr. James Berger officiated the 5:30 ceremony on a beautiful fall evening in Florida.

Marco Island wedding

Amanda chose all classical music for the ceremony. When we talked over the details prior to the date, she left the prelude music up to me,  preferring it to be lively. So we played music we thought people would recognize and enjoy: Mouret, Rondeau; Handel, Arrival of the Queen of Sheba; Bach, Brandenburg Concerto #3; Haydn, Divertimento; a Mozart Trio and movements from Handel’s Water Music Suite.

The Processional started with the Seating of the Grandmother of the Bride and the Mother of the Bride. Next, the Parents of the Groom were seated. The music for this was Bach’s, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. The Wedding Party led by Rev. James Berger entered to the music, Canon in D by Pachelbel. There were 5 Groomsmen followed by the Groom and Best Man. Next to make their way onto the beach were the 5 Bridesmaids, the Maid of Honor, 2 Ring Bearers and three Flower Girls. Our Bride, Amanda, entered to the music Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke. Within the ceremony, the couple poured sand to symbolize the blending of their lives and we played the Handel Air from Water Music. The ceremony concluded, the couple was presented and we played All You Need is Love as the guests cheered the newlyweds.  The guests made their way from the beach up to the terrace for the reception to the music Just the Way You Are Amazing by Bruno Mars.

Congratulations and best wishes always, Amanda and Ryan!

On this first Saturday of February the weather could not have been more beautiful for the destination wedding of Laura and John. The couple from Indiana chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort as their venue and the Seaside String Quartet to provide music for their wedding ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner. We shared the day with many wonderful vendors: Galina of the Resort, Kathie of Side by Side Wedding Services, Reverend Les Wicker, Tonya Malay Photography, Jenny and Sarah of Lyfe of the Party, Donna from Niche Event Rentals, Kakes by Karen, David and Daniel of Salon Tease and Dominick of Mobile Sound Entertainment. It was great to work with them!

The ceremony was set for 5 pm and we began prelude music at 4:30 pm. Laura gave me the freedom to choose the selections, requesting classical music. We performed Rondeau by Mouret; Flower Duet by Delibes; Mozart Quartet in C; Salut d’Amour by Elgar; Bach’s Anna’s Minuet;  Kreisler’s Liebesfreud; Handel Water Music Suite and some selections from our baroque album. The ceremony was a bit delayed so we added Mozart’s Alleluia, Handel’s Le Rejouissance, Gluck’s Minuet, and a Handel Bouree.

As the doors from the ballroom to the terrace opened and Reverend Wicker made his entrance, we began to play Schubert’s Ave Maria. The Mothers were seated and the Groom, John, took his place. The wedding party entered to Charpentier’s Te Deum. The adorable flower girl and ring bearers ( one carrying a sign”Here Comes the Bride” ) followed and as the groomsman blew in to a conch shell, Laura and her Father made their entrance to Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary.

During the ceremony, we played Handel’s Passacaile for the sand mixing. Reverend Wicker introduced the newlyweds and we played Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba for the exit of the couple and the wedding party.

We remained on the terrace for the cocktail hour. Laura requested popular music and chose the selections.: All You Need is Love; Leaving on a Jet Plane; Moon River; My Girl; Nights in White Satin; Stand By Me; Unchained Melody, What a Wonderful World; 1,2,3,4 (I LoveYou) All I Want is You; All My Love.

We took our break as the guests moved inside. The couple was introduced by DJ, Dominick, and performed their first dance together. The Father of the Bride gave his welcome toast. The Mom got up and asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to him and we played along. Since it was Tonya’s birthday too, we played it again for her as everyone sang.

As dinner began, we played these selections: At Last; Brown-Eyed Girl; Clocks; Groovy Kind of Love; In My Life; Moondance; Storybook Love; Wanted and When You Say Nothing At All.  Our portion of the evening was now over, more toasts were made and DJ Dominick took over. Many thanks to Laura and John for having us be a part of their special day! Congratulations!!

Sunday’s couple, Jenny and Joshua, also chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort for their destination wedding on this October weekend . The Seaside String Trio was chosen to provide the wedding ceremony music and cocktail reception music. This was a Jewish wedding so it was planned a little later in the evening, at 5:45. We began playing prelude music at 5:30 as guests made their way onto the beach .

I hope these pictures show you it was another gorgeous day- what a beautiful sky! Our fellow vendors included Lyfe of the Party, Tonya Malay Photography and Dominick of Mobile Sound Entertainment. Rabbi Daniel Victor officiated the ceremony.

For prelude, we entertained the guests with I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing (Aerosmith); Right Here Waiting (Richard Marx); Marry You (Bruno Mars) and From This Moment On (Shania Twain) . Annie’s Song (John Denver) was chosen to be played as the wedding party walked down the boardwalk onto the beach.  For the Bridal Entrance music, Jenny chose Pachelbel’s Canon in D to be played as her mother escorted her down the boardwalk onto the beach.

The breaking of the glass closed the ceremony and we played Rather Be (Clean Bandit) as the Recessional. I love this song that the couple requested- it is a great new addition to our repertoire list!

The cocktail reception was also held on the beach. After a slight change of position, we continued with the couple’s favorites: Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve); Clocks (Coldplay); Firework (Katy Perry); Good Life (OneRepublic); Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars); Just Like Heaven (The Cure); Yellow (Coldplay); Pompeii (Bastille); Radioactive (Imagine Dragons); Wake Me Up (Avicii); Viva la Vida (Coldplay); Secrets ( OneRepublic); Livin’ on a Prayer ( Bon Jovi); and Stairway to Heaven ( Led Zeppelin).  At sunset, Jenny had requested A Sky Full of Stars ( Coldplay) be played.  It was another great special request and what a beautiful sunset!

Thanks to all for their warm response to our music! Congratulations, Jenny and Josh!

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort

Wedding season is in full swing now. On this Friday in October, the weather could not have been more perfect! Our first cold front of the fall season came through last weekend and we were still enjoying less humid conditions. And, it was wonderful to not have to worry about rain today! The Seaside Strings Violin Duo was here on Marco Island to provide the music for the wedding ceremony of Nikki and Ahmad. The Mother of the Bride, Susan, had arranged, as a gift to the couple, to have our live music for their special day.

The ceremony was set for 5:30 and we started prelude music around 5:00 as the guests began to arrive on the beach.  On our playlist was Can You Feel the Love Tonight, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, All of Me, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Spring and Ode to Joy.

Tina from the Hilton served as Officiant and she arrived first.  As the Groom and Flower Girl made their way down the boardwalk, we played Pachelbel’s Canon in D.  Once they were in place we concluded that and began to play  All I Ask of You for the Entrance of the Mother of the Bride, the Father of the Bride and his wife, and the three ring bearers. For Nikki’s entrance, we played Someone  to Watch Over Me and both her parents escorted her down the aisle. The breaking of the glass concluded the ceremony and we played All You Need is Love as the couple walked back down the aisle.  The family enjoyed a beautiful evening on the beach and we continued to play a few more of their favorites  to complete our hour of service: Just the Way You Are Amazing, Marry Me and Wouldn’t It Be Nice.

It was a pleasure to be a part of this very special event. Thank you Susan for having us! Best wishes to the newlyweds!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

It was our honor to provide the wedding ceremony and reception music for Alexia and Frank at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort!  We are still feeling the heat since it is September but we did have a nice breeze and no rain to worry about. So it was a beautiful evening on Marco Island for a wedding! The Seaside String Trio was chosen to play for the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. I am joined by colleagues Joan Stewart and Julie Cornwall. The ceremony and cocktail reception were held on the beach and the dinner was held on the terrace. Corrin and her staff  at the resort had everything looking beautiful. The flower arrangements by the Marco Island Florists were full of fall colors. Reverend Russ Winn was on hand to officiate and we are grateful to him for taking this picture of us.

Marco Beach Ocean Resort 005Alexia chose all popular music for us to play. On the playlist for the prelude was All I Ask of You, Have I Told You Lately, The Way You Look Tonight and Can’t Help Falling in Love. As  Reverend Winn came walking down the boardwalk we quickly switched to the processional music, Bittersweet Symphony.  As Alexia appeared with her father and grandfather, we played Marry Me by Train.  After the exchange of vows and rings, the sand ceremony was performed. Our music for this was A Thousand Years ( one of my favorites).  After Reverend Winn introduced the couple, we played Yellow as the wedding party walked back down the aisle. As the guests began to move to the reception area, we played Don’t Stop Believin’.

Alexia had given me her list of requests that included I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, Just the Way You Are, Brown Eyed Girl, Margaritaville, Sweet Child O’ Mine, and Volare.  Since she also requested Frank Sinatra songs ,I added a new one to our repertoire, For Once in My Life.  I wanted to keep it upbeat for the cocktail hour so we also included Fly Me to the Moon, I’m Yours, Just the Way You Are Amazing, Moondance, Hey Soul Sister, Come Fly With Me, Better Together ,Cheek to Cheek and Lucky.

As the guests went down the beach to enjoy the sunset, we moved upstairs to the terrace to prepare for the dinner hour.  For this segment, I decided to slow things down a bit and we played many more Frank Sinatra songs along with the remaining requested songs, My Heart Will Go On and Con te Partiro.  We enjoyed playing the old standards and we finished our evening with That’s Amore.

We hope everyone enjoyed their stay on Marco Island! Congratulations and best wishes to Alexia and Frank!
