Ritz- Carlton Naples

Center Court at the Ritz- Carlton Naples hosted the wedding celebration of Christina and Nick on this first Friday in December. The weather was ideal, the flowers by Botanicals on the Gulf were gorgeous and the live music of the Seaside String Quartet filled the air. The 4:30 ceremony was officiated by Dr. Dan Lamey and Kathie and Jacqui of Side By Side Weddings helped put it all together.

We began prelude music at 4:00, performing classical music by Bach, Delibes, Handel and Corelli.  It was all classical music for the 4:30 ceremony as well. The Family was seated to the music of Bach,  Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring   The Wedding Party entered to the Canon in D by Pachelbel. The Bride entered to the traditional Bridal Chorus by Wagner and  the Recessional music was the Wedding March by Mendelssohn. The highlight was listening to Dr. Dan sing The Prayer to the couple. It was a very passionate performance and so romantic to see the couple holding hands throughout. Well done, Dr. Dan!

The couple chose the Seaside String Trio to provide music for their wedding ceremony and the cocktail reception. The ceremony was held at the front of the house.

La Playa Beach Resort

The good weather in this third week of July continued and it was a lovely evening for Katie and Sean. The Seaside String Trio was at the La Playa Beach Resort to perform the the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour for this Colorado couple. The sky was a bit hazy which kept the sun from being so intense and there was a nice breeze which kept the bugs away.

La Playa beach wedding

This was a small wedding with about 12 guests . The ceremony and cocktail hour were held on the north beach which is a bit more private. The wedding began at 7 pm and we began prelude music 15 minutes prior. Gail Alvarado was the Officiate and we were joined  by New Ground Photography and Botanicals on the Gulf  to make this a special day for the couple.

As the family made their way onto the beach, we entertained them with It Had to Be You; What a Wonderful World; Wonderwall and At Last.

As Gail led the way onto the beach, we began to play “All I Want is You”.  She was followed by the Seating of one Mother, the Groom, Best Man and the Maid of Honor. For Katie’s Entrance (with her young daughter), we played a special song for the couple, “Sugar” (by Maroon 5). This was a special request song that I arranged for our trio.

Gail began with the ceremony with a reading; the couple wrote their own vows, exchanged rings and presented a special necklace to Katie’s daughter. As they participated in the sand ceremony, we played A Thousand Years. The ceremony concluded with “Viva la Vida” after the newlywed’s kiss and pronouncement.

Pictures were being taken, guests were enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while we performed music chosen by the couple. On our playlist:

Naples Beach Hotel

One of our last weddings for March happened right after a cold front moved through the area. The day was a beautiful sunny day , low 70’s,  and very windy. You can see from the picture how churned up the water was. Nick and Erin from Ohio chose the Naples Beach Hotel in Naples, FL as the venue for their wedding celebration. The ceremony was on the beach with cocktail hour following on the Gulf Lawn. The Seaside String Trio provided their live music.

Naples Beach Hotel beach wedding

We were working with wonderful vendors: Paige from No Worries Weddings, wedding planner; Reverend James Berger, officiate; Jay Rigdon, DJ; Botanicals on the Gulf, florist; Aimee Rossi, photographer.

We arrived on the beach at 3:30, ready to play prelude music at 4 pm. Fortunately, we were able to place ourselves with our backs to the wind so our stands and books did not blow over.  Erin and Nick requested all classical music for the prelude. They  gave me freedom to choose, just wanted me to keep it lively. So we played for their guests these selections: Entrance of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #3, Haydn Divertimento, Strauss You and You Waltz, Allegro by Handel, Vivace by Telemann, and lively movements from the Handel Water Music Suite.

When we got the signal from Paige, we began to play Purcell’s Trumpet Tune for the Entrance of the Officiate, the Groom and his Parents and the Mother of the Bride. (Paige kindly gave us extra time because of the wind to turn our pages- we certainly appreciate that understanding help!). For the Entrance of the five Bridesmaids we played Rigaudon by Campra. After the last girl was in place, we began to play Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the Entrance of the Bride. During the ceremony, we played Meditation by Massenet as the couple performed the sand ceremony. For the Recessional, we played “Here Comes the Sun.”

For the cocktail reception, we performed popular songs chosen by the couple. Erin had a special favorite, Poker Face, and we made sure she was nearby when we played it. Other songs on our playlist were A Thousand Years, Brown Eyed Girl, Crazy Love, Fly Me to the Moon, Got to Get You Into My Life, How Deep is Your Love, I’m Yours, Just Like Heaven, La Bamba, Let’s Stay Together, Lucky, Maybe I’m Amazed and Moondance.

We appreciate the warm response we received from the guests and enjoyed being a part of this special day. Congratulations Nick and Erin!

The Club at the Strand

The Club at the Strand has always been one of my favorite venues. The courtyard garden in the back is just lovely and the staircase leading to it is just ideal for weddings. Yes, I am a bit biased but string music fits this atmosphere perfectly.

The Club at the StrandOur couple from Fort Myers, Caroline and Mark, chose to have both their ceremony and reception in this garden area behind the clubhouse. The ceremony was set off to the side with the main area set for the reception. It was the first time I had seen this set up and it looked lovely! The beautiful flowers were the work of Kevin from Botanicals on the Gulf.

I was there on this Saturday in January with my colleagues Susan and Diane to form the Seaside String Trio. This was a morning wedding, 11 am, so we arrived at 10 am to set up. Rebecca was our venue contact today and she was putting on the final touches when we arrived. After coordinating the processional with her, we began to play prelude music at 10:30 just as guests started to arrive. A mix of classical and pops music was requested. Caroline told me she loved Ave Maria, music by the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Coldplay and music from Phantom.  Here was our playlist for the prelude: Mouret, Rondeau; Coldplay, Clocks; Schubert, Ave Maria; Beatles, In My Life; Mozart, Trio in C; Sinatra, It Had to Be You; All I Ask of You from Phantom; Movements from Handel Water Music Suite.

The processional began with the Officiate, Judge Robert Branning and Groom, Mark, taking their places. Two Bridesmaids walked down the staircase with the 2 young girls that were the daughters of the couple. We played the Israel K version of Over the Rainbow as they made their entrance. For Caroline’s Entrance, we played the traditional Bridal Chorus by Wagner.

After the couple was introduced as Husband and Wife, we began to play All You Need is Love as the wedding party exited. When the guests rose to make their way over to the tables in the reception area, we played The Way You Look Tonight.

After a quick move ourselves, we continued to play a mix of classical and popular music for an additional hour during the reception. Here was the playlist: Beatles, All My Loving; Strauss, You & You Waltz; Sinatra, The Best Is Yet to Come; Phantom of the Opera; Strauss, Vienna Life Waltz; Beatles, Here Comes the Sun; Sinatra, Come Rain or Come Shine ( a special  requests so our debut performance of this); Haydn, Divertimento; Music of the Night from Phantom; Sinatra, New York, NY; Strauss, Tales from the Vienna Woods Waltz; Coldplay, Paradise; Beatles, P.S. I Love You; Coldplay, Sky Full of Stars; Angel of Music from Phantom; Sinatra, Very Thought of You; Armstrong, What a Wonderful World

Although it was a little chilly and cloudy at the start of the day, the sun came out and all the guests had a gorgeous day to enjoy!  Thank you so much Caroline and Mark for having us and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
