San Marco Catholic Church

San Marco Catholic Church is located on Marco Island, Florida. On this first Saturday in December,  it was the venue for the wedding ceremony of Stephanie and John. The couple chose the Seaside String Quartet to provide the music for their full mass and we worked closely with the music director, Nancy, and Father Tim who Officiated.

The lovely flowers were the work of Barbara at Focus Floral. Carrie Darling of Carrie Darling Events served as the wedding planner. Fidelis Films were the videographers.

San Marco Catholic Church

San Marco Catholic Church located on Marco Island was the site of our wedding ceremony on this beautiful November afternoon. Our couple, Karen and Vince were from New Jersey. Valerie, the bride’s stepmother, was the one who arranged to have us perform at the ceremony. She is a music teacher of elementary school band and told us she enjoyed hearing musicians who play in tune after what she listens to at school! I believe she told me Karen’s grandfather was a concert violinist, so this is a family that appreciates classical music! The Seaside String Quartet performed so I was joined by my colleagues Joan Stewart and Susan Sikuta, violins; I played viola and Diane Coffman performed on cello.

We began the prelude music thirty minutes prior to the ceremony. Among the pieces Karen chose were the Rondeau by Mouret, Air by Bach, and Clair de Lune by Debussy. A special request by Vince that the church did allow was Over the Rainbow. It was wonderful to play this piece that had special meaning for him!

The mass was performed by Father Gordon Zanetti and Jane Simmons served as the Cantor. Karen chose Handel’s Air for the seating of the family, Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring for the entrance of her attendants and the Pachelbel Canon in D for her own entrance. Jane handled the mass parts on piano and we did perform Gluck’s Dance of the Blessed Spirits for the Preparation of the Gifts. The Ceremony concluded with Handel’s La Rejouissance as the wedding party departed.

It was great to see Greg and Alex of New Ground Photography doing the photos. I see them often at meetings of the National Association of Wedding Professionals.

We wish Karen and Vince all our best! We hope you and your guests enjoyed your time here in Southwest Florida!
