Naples Botanical Garden

Hannah and Jacob started planning their wedding more than a year in advance. They picked a lovely venue for their February wedding and chose the Seaside String Trio to provide live music for their wedding ceremony and cocktail hour.

We had played previously at the Naples Botanical Garden in the Asian Garden, the Caribbean Garden and the Main Lawn so I was excited about seeing the Florida Garden. It was a gorgeous area surrounded by water features and offered tiki huts to provide shade. It was a beautiful day, although a bit breezy, not uncommon for mid February. Here is a picture by Luminaire Foto of the ceremony site.

We began prelude music at 5:00 for the 5:30 ceremony.  Amanda of Amanda Caroline Weddings & Events was the coordinator for the event and Rabbi Michael Raab officiated the ceremony. We performed all classical music for the prelude: Mouret’s Rondeau; Aria from Bach’s Wedding Cantata; Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba; Delibes Flower Duet; Brandenburg Concerto #3 by Bach; Salut d’ amour by Elgar; Mozart Trio in C and selections from Handel’s Water Music Suite.

The Rabbi and the Grandparents entered to the music Wachet Auf by Bach. The Groomsmen, Best Man and the Groom and his Parents entered to Air by Bach; The Bridesmaids and Maid of Honor entered to the music Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach and the Bride entered to the Canon in D by Pachelbel. At the start of the ceremony the Bride & Groom circle each other and we played Jerusalem of Gold as they performed this traditional rite. After the breaking of the glass, we performed Handel’s Hornpipe as the Recessional followed by Le Rejouissance as the guests moved on to cocktail hour.

Here is a picture I took of the cocktail hour area. It was just behind us.

Since it was pretty windy,  we moved a bit closer to the guests for the reception time. It was not a full hour of music so we were not able to play all of the couple’s requests. We did perform these songs: A Thousand Years, Christina Perri; Love Story, Taylor Swift; Mine, Taylor Swift; My Heart Will Go On, Celine Dion; Just the Way You Are, Bruno Mars; Everything, Michael Buble; Free, Zac Brown Band; All You Need is Love, Beatles and All of Me by John Legend.

Thank you so much,  Hannah and Jacob! We were honored to be a part of this special day! Everything was so lovely. We wish you all the  very best!

Naples Botanical Garden

The Naples Botanical Garden offers so many lovely areas  to choose from to have your wedding ceremony. Betsy and Brent chose the Main Lawn which offered a beautiful water garden view.  It  still all looked very lush to me.Whatever damage Irma left behind was not too apparent. The Seaside String Quartet was here on this beautiful January evening to provide the wedding ceremony and cocktail reception music. We had cool weather lately but the temperature was just perfect for this event.  We were joined by these wedding professionals: Kathie and Jacqui of Side By Side Weddings; Barbara of Focus Floral; Karl from Luminaire Foto and Dr. Dan Lamey, Officiate.

We began prelude music at 5 pm for the 5:30 ceremony. Betsy requested classical music and left the selections up to me. I chose a mix of lively baroque and romantic selections.  Betsy chose Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring for the Entrance of the Wedding Party; Pachelbel’s Canon in D for her Bridal Processional and I’m Yours by Jason Mraz for the Recessional.

After the ceremony, we moved to the covered patio outside Kapnick Hall.  We played a mix of music for the cocktail hour. Betsy left the classical selections up to me and the couple chose their favorite popular songs from our list. Here was our playlist:

You Are the Best Thing Ray LaMontagne; Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Beach Boys; Liebesfreud, Kreisler; Let It Be, Beatles; Cake By the Ocean, DNCE; Corrente, Corelli; Wonderwall, Oasis; Don’t Stop Believin’, Journey; Danube Waves, Ivanovici; Happy, Pharrell Williams; Home, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros; Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Tchaikovsky; Married Life from “Up”; Mozart Quartet in C; and La Vie En Rose.

The reception hall looked gorgeous and Clint Wiley’s None Other Band provided the rest of the evening’s entertainment.

Congratulations to the newlyweds, Betsy and Brent!

St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church

Our wedding on Saturday was one I will remember as one of my favorites.  It was a destination wedding for our couple, Malini and Justin. They chose the St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church as their wedding site and the Seaside String Quartet to provide the music for their wedding ceremony.  Lisa Radlovacki of Lisa London Weddings and Events was the wedding planner. We also saw our friends Nanette from Luminaire Foto and Steven from iheART Films.

It was my first time playing for a wedding of this denomination and my first time at this church. It was so beautiful inside! The ceremony was full of traditions and symbolism. And there was a lot of music! There was a choir to handle the sacred sections of the ceremony and a guitarist played a song for the Lighting of the Unity Candle. The Priest was amazing as he chanted throughout the 90 minute ceremony.

In the planning process, the couple had requested a song called Arms of Love by Kutless for the Bridal Procession. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the sheet music for it. Justin asked a friend to help and she was able to arrange the music for our string quartet. Justin asked that this be kept a secret from Malini. Thank you so much to the arranger, Anissa! It was a pleasure to meet you! Here is an excerpt:

We arrived at 2 pm and began playing prelude music at 2:30. The wedding was due to begin at 3 pm but the couple did warn me it would probably be delayed. The couple chose popular music to entertain the guests as they arrived at the church. Here was our prelude playlist chosen by the couple:

You’re Beautiful, James Blunt; A Thousand Years, Christina Perri; Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison; Baby I Love Your Way, Peter Frampton; I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables; Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley; Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, Frankie Valli; Come Away With Me, Norah Jones; I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, Aerosmith; Amazed, Lonestar; I’ll Stand By You, The Pretenders; You and Me, Lifehouse; For the Longest Time, Billy Joel; Rhythm of Love, Plain White T’s; Every Breath You Take, Sting; All of Me, John Legend; Just the Way You Are Amazing, Bruno Mars.

We began to play Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring as the Entrance of the Groom’s Parents  began the Processional. They were followed by the Mother of the Bride and her escort. We continued to play this selection as the mothers went up to light the Unity Candle.

We changed to the Pachelbel Canon in D as Justin entered followed by his 10 Groomsmen, 8 Bridesmaids, 2 Ring Bearers and 3 Flower Girls. Malini entered to her song, Arms of Love. I wish I could have seen her face when she realized what we were playing. Anissa served in the choir and I saw a big smile on her face! I got goosebumps!

When the ceremony concluded with the presentation of the newly married couple, we played the traditional Wedding March. For postlude, we played Marry You by Bruno Mars and One Love by Bob Marley.

Congratulations, Malini and Justin! Best wishes always!

It was another destination wedding for us on October 17th at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort. Our couple from Michigan, Leah and Robert, chose the Seaside String Trio to provide the wedding ceremony music and cocktail reception music. They had so many unique details.

Royal Poinciana Golf Club

It was our first wedding here at this Naples FL landmark and what a gorgeous venue! The Seaside String Quartet was chosen to perform for this outdoor ceremony as they were expecting nearly 200 guests. This was a destination wedding for the couple Jenna and Eli from Washington DC and we were booked a year in advance.

We shared the evening with these wedding professionals: Amanda Crowe of At Last Weddings, event coordinator; Signature Florals; Luminaire Foto, photographer; iheART Films, videographer; Artistic Science, lighting; Kakes by Karen; Hope Artistry, hair and makeup; Bash Booths, photobooth; Headliners Band; and Naples Transportation.

This was a Jewish wedding officiated By Rabbi Sharon Mars and set to begin at 7:30 pm. We began our prelude music at 7 pm and the couple chose all popular music to entertain their guests.

I really loved their choices: And So It Goes (Billy Joel); At Last (Etta James); Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You (Frankie Valli); Clocks (Coldplay); Come Fly With Me (Sinatra); Everything I Do (Bryan Adams); Moondance (Van Morrison); When a Man Loves a Woman (Percy Sledge).

For the ceremony, Ode to Joy was played as the Rabbi, Groom, Groom’s Parents and Mother of the Bride entered. For the entrance of the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, Vivaldi’s Spring was played. For the Entrance of the Bride, we played Pachelbel’s Canon in D. With the breaking of the glass, the guests shouted mazel tov and the wedding party exited to the song Everlasting Love (Love Affair).

We moved to the pool area for a shortened cocktail hour. Jenna and Eli picked more fun songs for us: Marry You (Bruno Mars); Born to Run (Bruce Springsteen); Firework (Katy Perry); Edge of Glory (Lady Gaga); Everything She Does is Magic (Police); Faithfully (Journey) , I Just Called to Say I Love You (Stevie Wonder), Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars). I wish we  had time to play all the ones on their playlist.

What a very special evening it was! I wish many years of happiness for these newlyweds.

La Playa Beach Resort

We have had an extraordinary amount of rain this September in Naples FL and it was raining when I arrived at the La Playa Beach Resort. It was the wedding day for Carlie and Joseph and the Seaside String Trio was providing the ceremony music and cocktail hour music. The bride decided to have the beach wedding go on as planned, regardless of the conditions. It looked like the rain was about to lift out and it was just spitting when we went out to set up. The plan was to do the ceremony quickly and then head over to the terrace for the cocktail reception.

Our fellow vendors were Stephanie Meiser of Along Came Stephanie; Karl and Nanette of Luminarie Foto; Steven and Annemarie of  iheART Films and Father Charles Obie, Officiant.

The sound man found us a large beach umbrella and along with our own umbrellas, we hoped we would be OK. Father Charles Obie announced that we needed volunteers and two guests came forward to help us. As the guests were being seated, we played Wonderwall, Pompeii and Better Together. It started to rain harder as the Groom, Best Men, Grandparents and Mothers made their way onto the beach to the music , Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo”ole. For the entrance of the Bridesmaids, Groomsmen and Flower Girls, we played Best Day of My Life. Carlie chose A Thousand Years for her entrance.

Father Obie kept the ceremony a bit shorter than normal due to the circumstances, announcing he would give his entire text to the couple for a keepsake. They did a sand ceremony and we played All of Me as they poured the sand in this symbol of unity. For the Recessional we played Mine by Taylor Swift and the guests cheered the newly married couple enthusiastically.

We quickly packed our equipment to move across the street and although we were all a little wet, our instruments seemed to have made it through OK.  The reception music was all popular songs chosen by the couple. We even debuted a couple of new ones. We didn’t get to play all that was on the list but we entertained the guests with Wake Me Up, Counting Stars, Radioactive, Living on a Prayer, Good Life, Hey Jude, Just a Kiss Goodnight, She’s My Kind of Rain, My Girl, Stairway to Heaven and I’m Yours.

It certainly was a memorable evening and we wish all the best to these newlyweds!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

Once again I get to write about a bride who had a unique vision for her wedding day. Lena and her fiance, Josh, chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort for their venue and the Seaside Strings Violin Duo provided the music for the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. But what was out of the ordinary was they had the cocktail hour first, on the terrace, followed by the ceremony on the beach. This was a destination wedding for the couple from New York and they had about 130 guests make the trip to be a part of the couples’ celebration.

Marco Beach Ocean Resort terraceWe began to play at 6:15 and since the weather was just a bit threatening , we went under cover. A small shower quickly came and went. It was mostly popular music on our playlist for the cocktail reception.  Our selections were Can You Feel the Love Tonight; Breathe (2am); Come Fly With Me; From This Moment On; How Sweet It Is; La Vie En Rose; Over the Rainbow; Only Time; Penny Lane; Theme from NY,NY; In My Life; You Are the Sunshine of My Life; When You Wish Upon a Star; Edelweiss; A Moment Like This, Waltz of the Flowers, Bach’s Minuet in G.

At about 7:10 we made our way onto the beach for the ceremony and the guests quickly followed us.  As the guests waited for things to begin we entertained them with That’s Amore, It’s a Wonderful World, This Will Be ( An Everlasting Love) , Beauty and the Beast and Kiss the Girl. There was a delay as we learned they were waiting for the Rabbi so we played some more Sinatra and Beatles songs. As the Rabbi came down the boardwalk, everyone cheered and we began to play the Israel K version of Over the Rainbow. The Groom and his Parents walked onto the beach followed by the 3 Bridesmaids and Groomsmen. Lena had 6 children walking as ring bearers and flower girls and she chose the perfect song for them” It’s a Small World”.  As Lena walked with her Parents toward her Groom, we played A Whole New World.  When Josh broke the glass to end the ceremony, we played Hava Nagila.  The Rabbi began to sing and the couple led their wedding party back down the aisle.

We were happy to share this event with these wedding vendors; Kevin Morris of Botanicals on the Gulf, Karl and Nanette of Luminaire Foto, AnnMarie and Steven of iheART Films and Daniella of Ella’s Cakes. And Corrin and her staff at the resort are always so wonderful to us! Another great memory!
