The Club at the Strand

Our final wedding for the month of June was held at the Club at the Strand.  I always love to come here! When I first formed Seaside Strings, many of our first weddings were at this venue. I just love the beautiful grounds.

Our couple today was Christy and Brian, local residents of Naples, FL . They chose the Seaside Strings Trio to provide their music for the wedding ceremony and cocktail reception. Rebecca Diamond was our contact at the venue and Reverend James Berger was the Officiant.

The ceremony was set for 6 pm and we began prelude music at 5:30 . Although skies were cloudy and near the end of the ceremony we heard rumbles of thunder, there was no need to be concerned about rain.

It was all classical music for the ceremony and all pops music for the reception. Christy was very organized and chose her music early in the planning process. For the prelude, she chose wonderful romantic selections such as Nessun Dorma and Intermezzo Sinfonico by Mascagni. Also on the playlist was the Andante from Mozart’s Piano Concerto #21, Spring by Vivaldi, Bach’s Minuet in G and music from Mozart’s Eine Kline Nachtmusik .

The Wedding Party led by Reverend Berger entered to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.   As we played the fanfare to the traditional Bridal Chorus, the doors opened from the clubhouse and Christy made her way down the elegant staircase.  During the ceremony they did something I had never seen before. They called it a Wine Ceremony. Symbolizing the union of their lives, they mixed white wine and red wine, forming a rose’ wine and then each shared a drink from the glass. Apparently the wine was a bit warm from sitting in the hot sun-the looks on their faces as they drank was precious.

The traditional Wedding March was the exit music for the newlyweds and the wedding party. As the guests made their way up the steps to the terrace, we played  Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.

The playlist for the reception was full of favorites. We played Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, All You Need is Love, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Crazy for You, Con te Partiro, Always on My Mind, Don’t Stop Believin’, Endless Love, Eternal Flame ( our debut of this one), Everybody Loves Somebody, Everything, Brown-Eyed Girl,Forever in Love, Georgia on My Mind, Good Life, and My Girl.  As the doors opened to the ballroom, the DJ segued nicely from our last song to his music.

We hope everyone enjoyed their evening and we wish congratulations to the happy couple!
