It has been a while since we have played at the Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs, FL. Extensive renovations have been done and it looked so lovely on this last Saturday of April. Local residents Blaire and Phil chose this venue for their wedding and the Seaside String Trio provided the music for their wedding ceremony and cocktail reception.
I checked in with Darcy, the venue coordinator , when I arrived at 4:30. She told me of a slight change made to the processional and we began to play prelude music at 5 pm. A mix of music was on our playlist: Rondeau by Mouret, In My Life, Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, Lucky, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto, Fly Me to the Moon, All of Me and movements from the Handel Water Music Suite. We got some unexpected applause after All of Me which told me that this new song will become a favorite.
Originally, we were going to play the Bach Air for the Seating of the Mothers but they were now coming out with the 2 young Ringbearers. With a signal from Darcy, we began to play the Pachelbel Canon in D for the Entrance of the Wedding Party. Officiant Angelia Winn led the group down the walkway. Blaire chose the traditional Bridal Chorus for her entrance. Since Angelia was using a microphone, we played background music, The Prayer, during the sand ceremony. The traditional Wedding March was the Recessional music. As guests made their way to the cocktail reception area we played Bashana.
It was all popular music for the reception. Blaire chose all the selections that included At Last, Better Together, Beyond the Sea, Bittersweet Symphony, Butterfly Kisses, Bubbly, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Cheek to Cheek, Firework, How Sweet It Is, I’m Yours, I Say a Little Prayer, Just the Way You Are, Kiss the Girl and Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.
When we were making the transition to the reception, Blaire had called over to us that our music was so beautiful and just as she imagined it. We are so glad we fulfilled her dream!
And, we get to come back to this venue in October of 2015!
