Kelly and Randy chose to have their wedding at her childhood home in the Harborage subdivision in Fort Myers and chose Seaside Strings to provide the ceremony music and cocktail hour music. What a huge honor to be asked to play for a second wedding in this family! Normally the weather is ideal at the end of March and many times you can not count on the weather forecast days in advance. Rain had been forecast all week so I guess it helped everyone make the necessary preparations. Unfortunately, on the day of the wedding, the weatherman happened to be correct and a huge storm arose just at ceremony time. The carefully made plans had to be altered somewhat but the excitement for the celebration could not be dampened.
Stephanie Meiser of Along Came Stephanie and her staff did a wonderful job. We were to have the ceremony in front of the home and I did get this picture as I arrived. Rain started almost as soon as I got there so we were moved inside the living area to play while the guests arrived and waited. They were hoping for a break in the weather. which did not happen. We began to play prelude music at 4:30 and just before 6 pm they decided to have the ceremony inside in the foyer. We were moved to a different area to allow for the guests to be able to move closer. It made it tricky since we could not see but with Stephanie’s help it all worked. As the Officiate, Cary Robinson, the Groom, Randy, and the six Groomsmen entered from the kitchen area, we played Kelly’s favorite piece, Bach’s Arioso. Next we were going to play Only Time by Enya for the seating of the grandparents but since they weren’t seated it was decided that it would be skipped. The 2 mothers entered to The Prayer and since that was a favorite of the Mother of the Bride, Karolyn, we played the entire song. As the 8 Bridesmaids and 3 ring bearers came down the staircase, we played Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring. Kelly chose the Pachelbel Canon for her entrance. I am sure it was dramatic to see her come down the stairs! As the newlyweds were introduced, we played Marry You by Bruno Mars. We followed that with All You Need is Love.
We were supposed to move to the lanai area for the cocktail hour but with only a few moments left before our ending time, we stayed where we were. We were loving the acoustics inside this house! The weather cleared enough for pictures to be taken in front of the home and all the guests moved to the tent in the back for the reception. I think everyone still had a fantastic time. Congratulations Kelly and Randy!
