Mid November is a very busy time in Naples FL for weddings. The weather is pretty close to perfection this time of year and on this Friday a nice evening was in store for everyone. We were working with all great vendors. Paige Simpson of No Worries Weddings was the Wedding Coordinator; Dr. Dan Lamey, the Officiant; Lyfe of the Party , florist; Aimee Rossi , the photographer and Steven and AnnMarie of IHEart Films, the videographers. The Seaside String Quartet was chosen to provide the live music for the wedding ceremony and cocktail reception so I am joined by my fellow musicians, Joan, Susan and Diane.
This was a destination wedding for our couple from Kentucky, Katie and James. They were expecting about 150 guests and chose the gulf lawn at the La Playa Beach Resort for their ceremony location with the cocktail reception in this same area. Katie chose for us a mix of popular and classical music for the prelude. We started with the popular: Everything I Do, Faithfully, Over the Rainbow( Israel K version) and What a Wonderful World. Then before the ceremony was to begin we played Vivaldi Spring, Vivaldi Winter, Schubert’s Ave Maria and music from movements from Handel’s Water Music Suite.
With the signal from Paige, we began to play the Bach Air for the seating of a Grandmother and the 2 Mothers. As the men entered from the side and took their places, we began to play Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring for the Entrance of the Bridesmaids. Last to enter was the flower girl pulling a wagon with the most adorable baby sitting in it ( definitely Gerber baby beautiful). Attached on the back of the wagon was a sign ” Here Comes the Bride”. Katie made her entrance to the music, Pachelbel, Canon in D.
The ceremony included readings and after the vows and rings were exchanged, the couple chose to have the sand ceremony. We performed All I Ask of You during this and since Dr Lamey was mic’d we did not have to worry about covering him up. As he finished speaking and nodded to me, we reached a cadence in our music for perfect timing.
As the guests cheered for Katie and James, we played Handel’s Le Rejouissance for the Recessional. The sign on the back of the wagon now said “Just Married”
We continued with all popular for the cocktail reception. We had a lot of fun playing their requests: 1,2,3,4 I Love You; Beach Boys Medley; Bittersweet Symphony; Brown Eyed Girl; California Girls; Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You; Desperado; I’ll Stand By You; Kiss the Girl; Kokomo; Livin’ on a Prayer; Love Story; Marry Me and we finished with Marry You. The guests moved on to the ballroom to continue the celebration with the Brett Foreman Band providing the entertainment.
Congratulations and best wishes to Katie and James!
