Marco Beach Ocean Resort

A stalled out front has given us a stormy week and according to the weather experts, rainy season has begun. Luckily, conditions have gradually improved over the last 24 hours and there are no worries about rain on this beautiful Friday evening. Our couple from Pennsylvania, Ashley and Chris have chosen Marco Beach Ocean Resort as the venue for this special occasion and have chosen the Seaside String Trio to provide the music for their ceremony and cocktail reception. I am joined by colleagues Joan Stewart on violin and Si Cheng Liu, filling in for core cellist Diane.

We are joined on the beach by our friends John and Michelle from Naples Original Video Productions and Tonya and Emma of Tonya Malay Photography.  Reverend Bob Mitchell of A Beautiful Florida Wedding is officiating.  We have worked with all these wonderful folks many times and it is always great to see them.

It is also officially “off-season” so Marco Island is very quiet. With only a few people out on the beach, a gentle breeze and lovely calm waters, we have the perfect evening for the wedding!

Ashley and Chris chose lovely pieces for us to play for their guests during the prelude. These included the Telemann Sonata, Delibes Flower Duet, Bach Air and Con te Partiro. As I see Reverend Mitchell heading down the boardwalk, it is time to start the Processional music, Schubert’s Ave Maria. He is followed by the Grandparents, Chris and his Stepmom and the three Groomsmen. The entrance music for the three Bridesmaids is Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. The traditional Bridal Chorus is the music for the entrance of our Bride, Ashley. Chris told me after the ceremony that when he heard our music as he walked onto the beach he felt really touched. That has got to be one of the best compliments!!

It was a very moving ceremony. Since from our position we could see Chris’ face, his love for his new bride Ashley was so obvious. We accompanied their lovely sand ceremony with the song, Endless Love.

As Reverend Mitchell proudly announced the couple, we began to play the traditional Wedding March for the exit of the wedding party. After playing Mozart’s Alleluia and Purcell’s Trumpet Tune, we quickly packed our equipment and went up to the terrace for the cocktail reception. Ashley told me she wished a mix of Sinatra and Disney songs and classical pieces. Starting with the Bach Brandenburg Concerto #3, we performed Cheek to Cheek, Kiss the Girl, Strauss Waltzes, The Way You Look Tonight, Salut d’ amour, Someone to Watch Over Me (which got some applause from the guests!), It Had to Be You, Under the Sea, Tango in D,  Fly Me to the Moon, and we concluded the evening with Stardust.

Sincere thanks to Ashley and Chris and all our best wishes! It is our wish that you have a lifetime filled with love and happiness.
