The weather was perfect for my trip up to Captiva Island. My destination is the Tween Waters Inn which is at the north end of the island and at least a good hour and a half from Naples. Since this is peak season now, I left very early as I didn’t want to risk getting stuck in slow traffic. There was an arts and craft festival on the way in Sanibel- it seemed to have a lot of people milling about but thankfully the traffic moved along well. The beach was already set up with lovely flower arrangements when I arrived . The beaches are beautiful here on Sanibel-Captiva Island and especially here in front of the Tween Waters Inn. The water just looked so blue today and even though in the 80’s, there was a wonderful breeze with clouds drifting by that kept it from being too hot out on the beach. Today the Seaside String Trio is performing for the wedding of Elizabeth and James. This is another destination wedding as the couple is from Texas. I later learned some of the family came from the Boston area too.
Today I am joined by Rachel Cox on violin and Diane Coffman on cello. It was great to see our friends Ed and Cher from Cher Hanna Photography. We began to play thirty minutes prior to the ceremony and there are a few guests that have gathered on the beach. Elizabeth wanted a mix of music so we began with the Mouret Rondeau and followed it with I’m Your’s, Delibes Flower Duet, Fly Me to the Moon, movements from the Handel Water Music Suite and Cheek to Cheek (Elizabeth told me she liked Frank Sinatra). A special request was Bubbly and that is what we were playing when the majority of the guests arrived from the inn across the street. It was not long after that, the entire Wedding Party led by Reverend James Berger arrived and we began to play Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. The group quickly crossed the beach and took their places. Everyone stood as Elizabeth entered to the Pachelbel Canon. No music was needed during the ceremony and after Rev Berger introduced them, we began to play Happy Together. We had time to play a few more songs as Cher was taking pictures of the group. These included Handel’s Le Rejouissance, Mozart’s Alleluia, and The Way You Look Tonight. Since Bubbly was so special, we played it again so Elizabeth could hear it along with another request, Hey, Soul Sister.
It was an ideal day for Elizabeth and James and it was wonderful to meet them! Congratulations and best wishes!
