La Playa

When I arrived at La Playa Beach Resort on Wednesday, I could not help but ooh and aah at the flowers. What a spectacular display! Kevin Morris from Botanicals on the Gulf  did an outstanding job! The gulf lawn has been transformed into an orchid garden!

I am joined by my colleague Diane Coffman on cello for this intimate Wedding during Thanksgiving week. Our couple Traci and Steve are from California. It is another beautiful day here in Naples! The beach is a bit more crowded with vacationers who have discovered La Playa Beach Resort .  Our venue contact today is Gail Alvarado who will also serve as the Officiate. She is Concierge at La Playa and often handles the smaller wedding events.

We begin with classical music for the prelude as the guests come down to the lawn to enjoy this beautiful weather. The plan is that Traci and Steve will walk out together. Gail is checking with them and when we see her again, she comes forward to take her place. To the music of Now and Forever, the happy couple arrives. I knew it was going to be bit tricky to time but it worked perfectly and we were able to come to a nice ending just as they reached the columns.

Once the ceremony concluded it was time for fun upbeat songs. We played standards like Cheek to Cheek, Fly Me to the Moon which I know the groom’s mother enjoyed since she began to sing with us on It Had to Be You. Traci told us later we surprised a few guests when we played a new one, Hey, Soul Sister. As the guests enjoyed the beautiful sunset, we played What a Wonderful World. We concluded the evening with another new one for us, You’ve Got a Friend.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
