11-11-11

This was of course a big day for weddings and especially here in Southwest Florida. Jacqueline and Omar, our couple from Chicago, prepared more than a year in advance for this special day. They chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort on this lovely breezy Friday afternoon. It was a bit cool by Florida standards with a high of 70 but the clear sunny sky made up for it!

Jacqueline and Omar chose the violin and cello duo so I was joined by my colleague, Diane Coffman. We performed classical music as the guests made their way down to the beach. Bob Mitchell of A Beautiful Florida Wedding led the wedding party down the long boardwalk to the music of Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. He was followed by Omar and his Mother and the Groomsmen. The 4 Bridesmaids in their beautiful purple dresses followed to the music of the Pachelbel Canon. Last to walk were 4 flower girls in their white dresses. I loved the matching purple bows in their hair. Jacqueline entered to the traditional Bridal Chorus. After the couple said their own vows, exchanged rings, it was time for the sand ceremony. As we played The Prayer, Jacqueline and Omar poured  purple colored sand and sand from Marco beach into the large vase. As they couple were introduced and we began to play The Wedding March, all the men suddenly pulled out red baseball caps and put them on. I found out later these were St Louis Cardinal hats and that it was in honor of the Cardinals winning the World Series for the eleventh time! I guess it was fate!

As Doreen Kline of Doreen Kline Photography prepared to take photos on the beach, we joined the guests on the terrace for cocktail hour. DJ Ceron was already set up and playing music until we were ready to begin again. As we performed a mix of music that included a few Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs, the guests enjoyed the beautiful sunset from the terrace. We hope they all enjoyed their time on Marco Island! Congratulations Jacqueline and Omar!
