Talis Park

Jennifer and Harold chose the lovely venue, Talis Park in Naples FL as the location for their destination wedding. This Kansas couple chose the Seaside String Quartet to provide the music for their wedding ceremony and cocktail reception. They also chose a perfect day – the weather on this late April afternoon was perfect! We began prelude music at 6 pm for the 6:30 ceremony. The ceremony was held on the lawn (which looked like carpet!) and then moved into the courtyard of the Vyne House for the reception. Dr. Dan Lamey was the Officiate and Brian Cardinal of KC Weddings and Events was the coordinator.

Dalia of Floral Symphony ( Libby’s Flower Shop) did a wonderful job with the florals and Maria Glassford was on hand to do the photography.

The Vyne House is now on my list of favorite venues. The bougainvillea in bloom was gorgeous. The Processional began from the door of the Vyne House out to the lawn area.

It was a warm breezy day but we placed ourselves in the shade off to the left side. I hope this picture shows off how beautiful the grass looked. We played a mix of classical and popular music for the prelude. All these selections were requested by the couple: Delibes, Flower Duet; Con te Partiro, Andrea Bocelli; At Last, Etta James; Angel Eyes, Jim Brickman; Over the Rainbow; Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach; Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison; She’s Always a Woman by Billy Joel.

Just prior to the start of the Processional, Dr. Dan came out to make an announcement to the guests and then we began to play You Raise Me Up for the Seating of the 2 Mothers. The Groom, Best Man and Maid of Honor entered to the Bach Air. The Bride chose the Canon in D by Pachelbel as her entrance music. Within the ceremony there was a wine blessing and we played The Prayer for this. The Wedding Party exited to All You Need is Love by the Beatles.

The Bride loved Jim Brickman and I was able to arrange 2 new songs for our ensemble. She made some specific song requests but also requested some Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and Beatles songs and she left those selections up to me. Here was our playlist for the cocktail hour: Wedding Song ( There is Love);  It Had to Be You, Sinatra; If You Believe, Jim Brickman; In My Life, Beatles; I Choose You, Sara Bareilles; Valentine, Jim Brickman; Satin Doll, Duke Ellington; Come Fly With Me, Sinatra; When I’m 64, Beatles; Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Duke Ellington; Love Me Do, Beatles; How Deep is Your Love, Bee Gees; Someone to Watch Over Me, Sinatra and Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.

we loved being a part of this special day! We hope everyone enjoyed their time in Florida. Best wishes to Jennifer and Harold!

We performed at Talis Park Golf Club for the very first time and were just awed by the surroundings!  It is really a gorgeous venue that we hope to return to again and again.

This view is of the Golf Club is after you cross over the bridge. The grass looks like carpet.

Sanibel Moorings

We had a super time playing for the wedding of Naomi and Bob. This was a destination wedding for an older couple who had been together over 20 years and were finally getting married. It was a small intimate wedding (about 25 guests) held at Sanibel Moorings on Sanibel Island. Naomi chose the Seaside Strings Quartet to provide the ceremony and cocktail reception music. Kari was our venue contact and also served as Officiant. The ceremony was set for 5pm.

Sanibel Moorings wedding

Sanibel Moorings quartet

When Naomi first contacted me , she told me she was a big fan of 70’s classic rock and he was a light rock/disco kind of guy. But, they were both big fans of Broadway music. She joked that she has seen the show Mamma Mia 15 times!  Our repertoire list was able to please them both! They picked great selections for us and we had so much fun playing them. It turned out we didn’t have time to play everything on their list, unfortunately. We certainly appreciated the warm response we received from everyone. Naomi told me afterwards they were all singing the words!

Here was the prelude playlist: Medley from South Pacific; Medley from My Fair Lady; Don’t Cry For Me Argentina; Till There Was You; Money, Money; Tonight, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Over the Rainbow.

Naomi walked out to I Dreamed a Dream. The ceremony concluded with I Do I Do, I Do, I Do

For cocktail reception: Bohemian Rhapsody, All of Me (John Legend); Moondance; Colour My World; God Only Knows; Stairway to Heaven; At Last; Classical Gas; Gabriel’s Oboe; Hey Jude; Smooth; Hallelujah; Somebody to Love; Whiter Shade of Pale; You’re the First, the Last, My Everything; When a Man Loves a Woman.

It was such a lovely day for them. What a wonderful venue too! Congratulations Naomi and Bob!

Naples Beach Hotel

One of our last weddings for March happened right after a cold front moved through the area. The day was a beautiful sunny day , low 70’s,  and very windy. You can see from the picture how churned up the water was. Nick and Erin from Ohio chose the Naples Beach Hotel in Naples, FL as the venue for their wedding celebration. The ceremony was on the beach with cocktail hour following on the Gulf Lawn. The Seaside String Trio provided their live music.

Naples Beach Hotel beach wedding

We were working with wonderful vendors: Paige from No Worries Weddings, wedding planner; Reverend James Berger, officiate; Jay Rigdon, DJ; Botanicals on the Gulf, florist; Aimee Rossi, photographer.

We arrived on the beach at 3:30, ready to play prelude music at 4 pm. Fortunately, we were able to place ourselves with our backs to the wind so our stands and books did not blow over.  Erin and Nick requested all classical music for the prelude. They  gave me freedom to choose, just wanted me to keep it lively. So we played for their guests these selections: Entrance of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #3, Haydn Divertimento, Strauss You and You Waltz, Allegro by Handel, Vivace by Telemann, and lively movements from the Handel Water Music Suite.

When we got the signal from Paige, we began to play Purcell’s Trumpet Tune for the Entrance of the Officiate, the Groom and his Parents and the Mother of the Bride. (Paige kindly gave us extra time because of the wind to turn our pages- we certainly appreciate that understanding help!). For the Entrance of the five Bridesmaids we played Rigaudon by Campra. After the last girl was in place, we began to play Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the Entrance of the Bride. During the ceremony, we played Meditation by Massenet as the couple performed the sand ceremony. For the Recessional, we played “Here Comes the Sun.”

For the cocktail reception, we performed popular songs chosen by the couple. Erin had a special favorite, Poker Face, and we made sure she was nearby when we played it. Other songs on our playlist were A Thousand Years, Brown Eyed Girl, Crazy Love, Fly Me to the Moon, Got to Get You Into My Life, How Deep is Your Love, I’m Yours, Just Like Heaven, La Bamba, Let’s Stay Together, Lucky, Maybe I’m Amazed and Moondance.

We appreciate the warm response we received from the guests and enjoyed being a part of this special day. Congratulations Nick and Erin!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort

On this first Saturday of February the weather could not have been more beautiful for the destination wedding of Laura and John. The couple from Indiana chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort as their venue and the Seaside String Quartet to provide music for their wedding ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner. We shared the day with many wonderful vendors: Galina of the Resort, Kathie of Side by Side Wedding Services, Reverend Les Wicker, Tonya Malay Photography, Jenny and Sarah of Lyfe of the Party, Donna from Niche Event Rentals, Kakes by Karen, David and Daniel of Salon Tease and Dominick of Mobile Sound Entertainment. It was great to work with them!

Marco Beach Ocean Resort ceremony

Marco Beach Ocean Resort reception

The ceremony was set for 5 pm and we began prelude music at 4:30 pm. Laura gave me the freedom to choose the selections, requesting classical music. We performed Rondeau by Mouret; Flower Duet by Delibes; Mozart Quartet in C; Salut d’Amour by Elgar; Bach’s Anna’s Minuet;  Kreisler’s Liebesfreud; Handel Water Music Suite and some selections from our baroque album. The ceremony was a bit delayed so we added Mozart’s Alleluia, Handel’s Le Rejouissance, Gluck’s Minuet, and a Handel Bouree.

As the doors from the ballroom to the terrace opened and Reverend Wicker made his entrance, we began to play Schubert’s Ave Maria. The Mothers were seated and the Groom, John, took his place. The wedding party entered to Charpentier’s Te Deum. The adorable flower girl and ring bearers ( one carrying a sign”Here Comes the Bride” ) followed and as the groomsman blew in to a conch shell, Laura and her Father made their entrance to Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary.

wedding ceremony

During the ceremony, we played Handel’s Passacaile for the sand mixing. Reverend Wicker introduced the newlyweds and we played Handel’s Entrance of the Queen of Sheba for the exit of the couple and the wedding party.

We remained on the terrace for the cocktail hour. Laura requested popular music and chose the selections.: All You Need is Love; Leaving on a Jet Plane; Moon River; My Girl; Nights in White Satin; Stand By Me; Unchained Melody, What a Wonderful World; 1,2,3,4 (I LoveYou) All I Want is You; All My Love.

We took our break as the guests moved inside. The couple was introduced by DJ, Dominick, and performed their first dance together. The Father of the Bride gave his welcome toast. The Mom got up and asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to him and we played along. Since it was Tonya’s birthday too, we played it again for her as everyone sang.

As dinner began, we played these selections: At Last; Brown-Eyed Girl; Clocks; Groovy Kind of Love; In My Life; Moondance; Storybook Love; Wanted and When You Say Nothing At All.  Our portion of the evening was now over, more toasts were made and DJ Dominick took over. Many thanks to Laura and John for having us be a part of their special day! Congratulations!!
